Dabaiba orders immediate action following earthquake near Tripoli

Tripoli, May 10, 2025 (LANA) - The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, issued urgent instructions to the Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Authority to take immediate action following the earthquake near Tripoli, to inspect roads and public facilities, and ensure the safety of citizens.

Dabaiba emphasized that the safety of citizens is the state's top priority, calling for preparedness and a rapid response from all relevant agencies to deal with any potential impacts, according to a post published by the Prime Minister's media office on its official Facebook page.

For his part, the Tripoli Security Director confirmed that no human or material damage has been recorded so far, and that security services are monitoring the situation on the ground and reassuring citizens of the stability of the situation.

The Libyan Center for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences reported an earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale in Libyan territorial waters near the coast, noting that residents of several areas east of Tripoli felt it.
