An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale struck the Mediterranean Sea off the western coast of Libya.

Tripoli, May 10, 2025 (LANA) - The Libyan Center for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences announced that an earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale occurred today, Saturday, in the Mediterranean Sea off the western coast of Libya.

The center said in a statement that global monitoring stations recorded an earthquake at 7:35 local time today, Saturday, measuring 4.1 on the seismic scale. The center noted that the epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Mediterranean Sea at a depth of 73 kilometers, approximately 125 kilometers from the Libyan capital, Tripoli.

The statement confirmed that areas near the western coast of Libya felt this earthquake, noting that it had no significant impact on buildings due to the distance.
