Tripoli, May 7, 2025 (LANA) - A meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity to discuss several topics related to the difficulties facing Libyan communities abroad, particularly those wishing to settle their administrative and legal status.

The meeting was chaired by the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Expatriate Affairs, Mohamed Zidan, and included the Head of the Passports, Nationality, and Foreigners Affairs Authority, the Director of the International Relations and Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Interior, and a number of directors of relevant departments at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

This comes as part of a series of preparatory meetings with several Libyan ministries and institutions concerned with the affairs of citizens residing abroad.

A number of proposals were put forward aimed at overcoming these obstacles and providing the necessary facilities, contributing to strengthening bridges of trust with Libyan expatriates and encouraging them to return and engage in the national construction process, especially since a large segment of them belong to the category of distinguished scientific competencies and expertise.

The meeting also addressed a number of related issues, as part of the development and implementation of the national strategy to support the Libyan community abroad.
