The Arab Parliamentary Union affirms its support for the Libyan people's demands for elections as soon as possible.

Tripoli, May 5, 2025 (LANA) – The 38th Conference of the Arab Parliamentary Union affirmed its support for the Libyan people's demands to hold elections as soon as possible, contributing to Libya's stability within the framework of a Libyan-Libyan dialogue, free from foreign interference.
This came in the closing statement issued by the conference, which was held in Algiers, with the participation of a delegation from the House of Representatives, headed by the First Deputy Speaker of the House, Fawzi al-Nuwairi.
The conference reiterated its affirmation that the Palestinian cause will remain the compass of the Arabs, regardless of the escalation of racist Zionist attacks and their desperate attempts to uproot the Palestinian people from their deeply rooted roots in human history.
The spokesman for the House of Representatives said in a press statement that the closing session of the conference witnessed a review of the committees' reports and recommendations, in addition to discussing the draft work program and the draft budget of the General Union for 2025.
Blihaq added that on its closing day, the conference presented the Arab Parliamentary Excellence Award to Dr. Ahmid Houma, former Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Minister of Defense in the government assigned by the House of Representatives, in recognition of his tenure.
The House of Representatives delegation participating in the conference, in addition to delegation head Fawzi al-Nuwairi, includes MPs Al-Saleheen Abdul Nabi, Hassan al-Barghouthi, Aisha Shalabi, and the Head of the House of Representatives' Bureau, Abdullah al-Masry, in addition to Dr. Ahmid Houma.
