Tripoli, 4 May 2025 (Lana) The World Health Organization-Libya (WHO) kicked off a 3-day training to strengthen the national expanded immunization program (EPI) yesterday in Tripoli, with the participation of several national and international health agencies.

The workshop was co-organized by the National Center for Disease Control and the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with UNICEF, and with support from the European Union.

According to a statement issued by the WHO Media Office, the workshop aims to train Libyan health teams on adapting program review tools to the local context, in addition to conducting effective field reviews and implementing practical exercises to evaluate vaccination services in the field.

This workshop is part of a comprehensive review of the EPI in Libya, which will last for two weeks and cover all parts of the country, which is one of the most prominent efforts to strengthen the country's public health system.

The organization emphasized that this initiative is not limited to training alone but rather aims to strengthen more efficient and responsive health systems and ensure that every child in Libya receives vaccines that protect them from preventable diseases.

Participants expressed their gratitude for the EU’s support, commending the efforts of health workers to protect children and promote community health in Libya.
