Tripoli, May 3, 2025 (LANA) – Member of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, called on all Libyans to unite their efforts to achieve comprehensive national reconciliation and to continue working with determination and sincerity to unite ranks and preserve the nation's unity and stability.
This came in a speech he delivered today during his participation with the Sidi Al-Sayeh municipality and its residents in commemorating the 103rd anniversary of the Battle of Sidi Al-Sayeh, which Libyans fought against the Italian occupation hordes in 1922 in defense of their land and honor.
Al-Lafi said, "The mujahideen in that battle, along with all the men and women from all cities and regions, wrote an epic of unity and steadfastness, in which wills were united and sacrifices converged, despite the harsh conditions and the horror of the ordeal." He emphasized that their collective participation in that immortal battle, more than a century ago, obliges us to cling to our unity with our molars and to work with determination and sincerity to unite ranks and preserve the nation's unity and stability.
Al-Lafi pointed out that the Presidential Council, while recalling these timeless values and principles today, renews before you the pledge to continue working tirelessly to achieve comprehensive national reconciliation and build a modern civil state that embraces everyone, preserves the dignity of every Libyan man and woman, and protects the blood of our martyrs, which will not be shed in vain.
The commemoration was held at the battle memorial site, in the presence of several members of the House of Representatives, the Attorney General, the Minister of Youth in the Government of National Unity, the head and members of the Social Council of the Alawneh Tribes, and the people, notables, and elders of the region.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, those present, led by Presidential Council Member Abdullah Al-Lafi, laid wreaths of flowers at the battle memorial and recited Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of its heroes, who wrote Libya's honorable history with their pure blood.
