Tripoli, May 1, 2025 (LANA) – US Special Envoy to Libya, Ambassador Richard Norland, announced his full agreement with the vision of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) that all political and security parties should avoid taking unilateral actions that would destabilize the country.
Richard Norland said in a tweet on the X platform that the progress achieved on the economic and security tracks paves the way for progress on the political track. Every opportunity must now be seized to build consensus on a path toward elections.
The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) expressed its concern about recent political and security developments, warning of the risks of escalating unilateral actions by political and security actors.
In a statement, the UN Mission called on all political and security parties to refrain from taking steps that would harm the consultation process and undermine peace and stability.
