Al-Lafi receives a delegation from the Russian Foreign Ministry to discuss support for the political process and strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Tripoli, April 28, 2025 (LANA) - Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, received in Tripoli on Monday the Russian Foreign Ministry's Middle East and North Africa Affairs Officer, Alexander Kinshchak, who arrived in Tripoli earlier today at the head of a high-level delegation.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed developments in the political scene in Libya and emphasized the importance of concerted international and regional efforts to advance the peaceful process and hold comprehensive national elections, paving the way for lasting stability in the country.
The Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Council emphasized the importance of strengthening the partnership with Russia to support the political process led by the Council, which would contribute to unifying institutions and achieving national reconciliation.
The meeting also discussed several regional and international issues of common interest, as well as prospects for developing bilateral relations between Libya and Russia through activating the Joint High Committee and expanding areas of cooperation, particularly in military and security fields, to enhance the capabilities of the Libyan army according to modern professional standards.
For its part, the Russian delegation affirmed its country's commitment to continuing coordination with the Presidential Council and supporting efforts to achieve political and security stability in Libya. It also noted Moscow's desire to enhance cooperation in the areas of military training, counterterrorism, and border security, in addition to economic and investment cooperation in vital sectors.
The meeting was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army and his deputy, along with the Russian Ambassador to Libya and the military attaché at the embassy.
