The Joint Consular Committee between Libya and Tunisia meet.

Tripoli, April 18, 2025 (LANA) - The work of the Joint Consular Committee between Libya and Tunisia concluded in Tripoli over the past two days. The meeting was chaired by the Director of the Department of Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Najat Shaif, head of the Libyan delegation, and the Director-General of the General Department of Consular Affairs, Mohamed Tarjuman, head of the Tunisian delegation.

Over the course of two days, the committee reviewed aspects of consular cooperation between the two countries. The two sides discussed issues of mutual interest related to the affairs of the two communities, regulating transit movement, and addressing issues related to citizens in both countries.

The two sides emphasized their mutual commitment to protecting and safeguarding the interests of citizens of both countries in accordance with the agreements concluded between the two countries, and to activating consular communication channels to resolve outstanding issues quickly and effectively.

They also agreed to simplify consular procedures and provide necessary facilities for citizens in the areas of residence visas, organizing official documents, and addressing issues related to name similarities and border procedures.

The two sides also agreed to enhance coordination in the areas of immigration, combating human trafficking, and irregular migration. They also agreed to hold periodic meetings of the Consular Committee to follow up on the implementation of recommendations and continue coordination.

At the conclusion of the committee's work, the two sides expressed their satisfaction with the atmosphere of cooperation and brotherhood that prevailed during the committee's work and emphasized the importance of continuing consular consultations to strengthen bilateral relations in the interest of the two brotherly peoples.
