They were also joined by ambassadors and delegates from Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Ghana, Qatar, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.

Citing data from the Libyan Mine Action Centre (LMAC), Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator, Ines Choma, said during the opening ceremony that hundreds of millions of square meters of Libya have been identified as hazardous areas, with more expected to be added. In some areas, such as those buried under rubble, he warned that the risk is extremely high, particularly for the population.

Choma emphasized the need to continue clearing mines and explosive remnants of war and raising awareness of their dangers to ensure safe movement for communities, families, and children.
