Tripoli, April 15, 2025 (LANA) – The Presidential Council warned of the unjustified escalation in the political arena, which could threaten the relative stability the country is experiencing.
In an official statement issued this evening, the Council called on the House of Representatives and the Council of State to overcome their differences and prioritize the national interest over narrow and immediate considerations. The Council stressed the need for urgent consensus on the appointment of those holding sovereign positions, in accordance with the provisions of the Political Agreement and its annexes, to avoid the country slipping into a new crisis that would add to the accumulated crises citizens are suffering from.
The Council stated that it is following with great concern the unjustified escalation in the political arena through unilateral steps, which are being met with similar steps by some institutions. This could undermine the relative stability the country is experiencing.
The Presidential Council reiterated its commitment to completing the implementation of the roadmap for a comprehensive political solution, particularly the articles related to the unification of sovereign institutions, within a specific timeframe.
The Council affirmed in its statement that the continued stagnation and delay in implementing national obligations will not be met with a passive spectatorship. Rather, the Council will be forced to take the necessary steps to address these shortcomings, ensuring the preservation of the unity of the nation and its institutions, and ensuring progress toward stability and consensus.
