Dbaiba meets with the EU ambassador.

Tripoli, April 15, 2025 (LANA) – The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbaiba, discussed a number of issues of mutual interest today, Tuesday, with the European Union Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orland. They discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, most notably the recent economic developments in the country and their direct impact on citizens' livelihoods.

The media office, of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity reported, that Dbaiba stressed during the meeting that the decline in the value of the Libyan dinar as a result of parallel and uncontrolled spending is one of the most prominent economic challenges facing the country. He called for the need to adopt a unified and declared international position that criminalizes this type of spending, which occurs outside the legal framework, and holds Libyan citizens accountable for its consequences.

According to the office, Dbaiba stressed, regarding the issue of illegal immigration, that the government has a clear vision confirming that Libya will not be a home for illegal immigrants. He also highlighted the importance of working together on plans to deport migrants to their countries of origin, in accordance with the principles of respect for sovereignty and humanitarian standards.

The meeting discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation between Libya and the European Union in a number of economic, security, and development fields, serving the interests of both sides and enhancing stability in Libya and the region.
