The Fourth International Conference on Laboratory Medicine Begins in Benghazi.

Benghazi, April 15, 2025 (LANA) – The Fourth International Conference on Laboratory Medicine began in Benghazi on Tuesday, organized by the Medical Laboratories Syndicate, the conference brought together a select group of Libyan researchers and academics, as well as researchers from Tunisia and Egypt.
The conference aims to enhance the exchange of scientific knowledge and expertise in the field of medical laboratories, present innovative research that contributes to the development of the health sector, and provide sustainable solutions to emerging health challenges.
The Director of the Medical Workforce Development Center in Benghazi, Abdullah Azouz, emphasized that the conference is an important platform for activating the research role of medical laboratories and developing their performance and scientific contributions. He pointed out that the recommendations issued by the conference must reach decision-makers to be translated into practical steps that contribute to raising the efficiency of Libyan laboratories, especially in light of the rapid global scientific transformations.
In turn, Ramadan Sati, head of the conference's preparatory committee, explained that the conference will discuss various scientific topics, including the implementation of quality programs in laboratories, the role of hormonal tests in diagnosing infertility, diagnosing tumors and blood diseases, antibody tests and autoimmune diseases, in addition to the latest diagnostic techniques, occupational safety, bacterial resistance to antibiotics, and the role of laboratories in forensics.
Ahmed Al-Farjani, head of the Syndicate of Laboratory Medicine, emphasized that the conference represents an important step toward advancing the medical laboratory sector. He explained that approximately 70% of medical diagnoses begin in the laboratory, making it a fundamental pillar of the healthcare system.
Al-Farjani said, "Through this conference, we aspire to highlight the significant research potential in this field and support national competencies that can lead the sector's future development."
