Al-Sour meets with the Chairman of the Management Committee of the Zawiya Oil Refining Company.

Tripoli, April 15, 2025 (LANA) - Attorney General Siddiq Al-Sour met in his office in Tripoli with the Chairman of the Management Committee of the Zawiya Oil Refining Company, Imad Ben Koura. This comes as part of the Public Prosecution's investigation into the activities of some public companies involved in the provision of basic commodities and fuel.

The company, stated in a post on its official page on Tuesday, that the meeting addressed the responsibilities of the Zawiya Company and its contribution to meeting a portion of the country's fuel needs for the local market. The meeting also discussed "the budgets allocated for importing fuel from abroad, not to mention smuggling and the harm this causes to the national economy and public finances."

The meeting also addressed the reasons for the shutdown of local asphalt plants and the lack of asphalt required to implement infrastructure, road, and bridge projects. It also addressed the fluctuations in the operation of the Zawiya Mineral Oil Mixing and Packaging Plant, and the damage resulting from the entry of alternative goods imported from abroad with specifications that may be of poor quality.

The company's post quoted the Chairman of the Company's Management Committee as expressing the commitment of the National Oil Corporation and the company to fulfilling their responsibilities to implement development projects, which will benefit the national economy and preserve public funds.
