During the signing ceremony, Ibrahim Hadiya, Director-General of LANA, emphasized that this agreement, which covers various aspects of cooperation, including news exchange, training, development, and coordination between the two agencies, will undoubtedly contribute to serving the issues of concern to the two brotherly countries and increase the level of coordination and cooperation between them. It will also open new horizons for professional media work between LANA and MAP.
In his speech, Al-Majbri praised the level of modernity and significant development he witnessed during his visit to the headquarters of the Maghreb Arab Press Agency (MAP), which encompassed all levels and various media outlets in electronic and editorial media, including television, radio, and various levels of editorial.
Al-Majbri praised the stances of the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, towards Libya, its initiatives and hosting of dialogues between Libyan parties and components, its efforts to achieve unity, security, and stability in Libya, its rejection of foreign interference, its affirmation of and continued support for a Libyan-Libyan solution, and the healing of the rift between the Libyan people.
The agreement, which comes within the framework of strengthening cooperation and partnership between MAP and Arab and international news agencies in the media field, aims to regulate mechanisms for the exchange and use of information between the two agencies, including multimedia content such as images, videos, audio recordings, and graphics, for mutual and free use in their news bulletins.
The agreement stipulates a commitment by both parties to exchange information services without imposing any subscription fees, and for each party to provide the other with such services. The agreement also includes provisions for both parties to make every effort to provide additional services not provided for in the agreement, with the requesting party bearing the costs after consultation. Both parties will also provide the necessary facilities for the envoys and correspondents of the two agencies accredited in the other country to facilitate their professional tasks, exchange visits and expertise between their staff, and benefit from training courses organized by each agency in the fields of journalism, technology, and information technology. The duration of visits and courses will not exceed seven days, and the terms and details will be determined through bilateral consultation.
The agreement stipulates that the two parties shall coordinate jointly in regional and international conferences and forums of which they are members to serve their common goals and interests. All matters related to its implementation shall be settled in a spirit of professional cooperation and mutual understanding. It supersedes and replaces the previous agreement signed between them in 1984.
The agreement shall enter into force immediately upon signature and shall remain in effect for one year, subject to automatic renewal unless either party notifies the other in writing of its desire to terminate it at least three months prior to its expiration date.
