Tripoli, April 8, 2025 (LANA) - The Criminal Court issued prison sentences against officials at the Agricultural Bank's Qasr Bin Ghashir branch on charges of financial corruption.
The Attorney General's Office stated on its official Facebook page that the Criminal Court sentenced a former manager of the Agricultural Bank's Qasr Bin Ghashir branch to four years in prison and a fine of 20,000 dinars. The court also sentenced the branch's credit officer to three years in prison and a fine of 700,000 dinars. Both were deprived of their civil rights for the duration of the sentence and for a year after its execution. The court also acquitted the two officials and a member of the branch's legal office of their responsibility for the serious damage to public funds and the development plan, and for violating the law to gain illicit benefits for others. The court also acquitted the legal office member of the charges against him.
The Office confirmed that the Public Prosecution decided to appeal this ruling by way of cassation, as it rejected the assessment of the fine imposed on the first and second defendants, and acquitted the legal office member.
