Tripoli - April 8, 2025 (LANA) - President of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Mnifi, reviewed political, security, and economic developments with the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Libya, Hanna Tetteh, and the Deputy Special Representative for Political Affairs, Stephanie Khoury, in Tripoli on Tuesday.

The media office of the President of the Presidential Council stated that the Special Envoy provided a comprehensive briefing during the meeting on her domestic and foreign visits, which aim to strengthen the efforts of the United Nations Mission in Libya and intensify efforts to reach a comprehensive political settlement leading to elections.

The office explained that the meeting discussed the economic and financial situation, emphasizing the importance of continuing to adopt the principles of transparency and disclosure in the presentation of financial statements. This enhances trust between citizens and public institutions, enhances institutional integration, ensures effective oversight of spending across the country, and enhances job opportunities to address shortcomings and errors.

Measures to contribute to the implementation of Security Council resolutions and the recommendations of its Sanctions Committee and UN institutions to promote human rights and prosecute those involved in organized crime networks, smuggling, human trafficking, and perpetrators of human rights violations were also discussed.
