Tashkent - April 6, 2025 (LANA) - Members of the House of Representatives of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Ramadan Shambash, Dr. Sultana Al-Masmari, and Dr. Rabia Abu Ras, participated in the opening ceremony of the 150th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the 215th session of the Governing Council of the Union, which began yesterday, Saturday, in the Uzbek capital, Tashkent, under the theme "Parliamentary Work for Development and Social Justice."

According to the House of Representatives, the delegation was headed by First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Fawzi Al-Nuwairi. The delegation also included Abdullah Al-Masry Al-Fadhil, Head of the House of Representatives' Diwan.

The session's agenda includes several topics related to current global issues, most notably developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, in addition to issues of international peace and security, environmental governance mechanisms to address the repercussions of climate change, and activating legislative frameworks to achieve social and economic justice.

The 150th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the 215th session of the Governing Council of the Union continue until the ninth of this month.
