Tripoli, March 25, 2025 (LANA) – Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation, Ali Al-Abed Al-Rida, discussed with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Niger in Libya, Abdulaziz Loli Haro, the situation of the Nigerien community and the regulation of labor in accordance with approved laws.

Al-Abed emphasized the depth of relations between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of registering workers on the "Wafed" digital platform and conducting medical examinations to ensure their status is regularized.

Al-Abed called for the issuance of official documents for those wishing to work in Libya, affirming the ministry's commitment to legal procedures for regulating migrant labor.

He also stressed the importance of raising awareness among the Nigerien community about the conditions of work in Libya, calling for enhanced communication with them, and affirming that the ministry will work to address the problems of voluntary return and exit visas in coordination with the relevant authorities to overcome obstacles.

For his part, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy explained that voluntary repatriation had been suspended for 10 months due to restrictions on overland travel in Shuwayrif, in addition to delays in issuing exit visas for air travel, which hindered the return of migrants.

He emphasized that the Embassy is working to reactivate voluntary repatriation in coordination with the relevant authorities, once the problems impeding it are resolved.
