Tripoli, March 25, 2025 (LANA) – Bangladeshi Ambassador to Libya, Abul Hasanat Muhammad Khairul Bashir, denied reports indicating that some Bangladeshi workers are entering Libya legally and then migrating to Europe.

This came during his meeting today with the Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation in the Government of National Unity, Ali Al-Abed Al-Rida, in Tripoli, to discuss the situation of Bangladeshi workers in Libya and enhance cooperation between the two countries in this field.

Abu Al-Hasanat emphasized that such cases usually occur through illegal and unlawful channels, and that neither the Bangladeshi government nor the Government of National Unity bears any responsibility for them.

He also emphasized his country's commitment to full cooperation with the relevant authorities in Libya to regulate and legalize the entry of workers officially and legally. He noted that his country attaches great importance to this issue and is keen to ensure that its citizens adhere to local laws and regulations in Libya, which strengthens bilateral relations between the two countries and serves the interests of both parties.

For his part, the Minister of Labor emphasized during the meeting the need for Bangladeshi workers to enter Libya through official legal channels and to abide by local laws and regulations governing the labor market.

A number of issues related to Bangladeshi workers working in Libya were discussed during the meeting, including the settlement procedures announced by the Ministry of Labor and Rehabilitation last month.
