Al-Sayeh and the Iraqi ambassador discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the commission and Iraqi institutions concerned with electoral affairs, and exchange expertise.

Tripoli, March 18, 2025 (LANA) – Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Imad Al-Sayeh, discussed on Tuesday with the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Libya, Ahmed Nima Al-Sahhaf, ways to enhance cooperation between the Commission and Iraqi institutions involved in electoral affairs, exchange expertise in managing electoral processes, and develop the capabilities of electoral cadres.

The HNEC's media office stated that the meeting was held at the Commission's headquarters in Tripoli and discussed the importance of exchanging visits and experiences between the two countries in organizing elections and citizen participation in the democratic process.

During the meeting, Al-Sahhaf expressed his appreciation for the role played by the Commission in promoting democracy in Libya, stressing Iraq's keenness to enhance cooperation in the areas of training and technical support to contribute to the success of the upcoming electoral processes in both countries.

Al-Sayeh emphasized the importance of building international partnerships that contribute to the development of the electoral process, noting the Commission's keenness to benefit from international experiences to promote the principles of integrity and transparency in elections.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the importance of continuous communication between the two sides to enhance cooperation in the areas of technical and logistical support, serving the aspirations of both countries to strengthen democratic processes.
