Benghazi, March 12, 2025 (LANA) - The National Security Council warned of the growing dangers of illegal immigration and its negative impact on Libyan national security and its threat to the social fabric.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Council affirmed that this phenomenon has become a serious threat to the country's political, economic, social, and security stability. It noted that neglecting this phenomenon has led to the spread of crime, fraud, and forgery, in addition to the entry of terrorist groups and the spread of drugs.
In its statement, the Council considered the attempts of some countries to settle illegal immigrants in Libya by exploiting human rights issues to constitute a threat to Libya's interests and security.
The Council called on the relevant authorities in Libya to take urgent measures to protect national sovereignty, including strengthening border security measures and enforcing laws to combat illegal immigration.
At the end of its statement, the Council affirmed Libya's complete rejection of the idea of settling immigrants on its territory, emphasizing the need for local and international cooperation to confront it.
