Benghazi, February 27, 2025 (LANA) - The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee of the House of Representatives, "Youssef Al-Aqouri", met on Wednesday with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Libya, "Haider Rashid Aganin", at the headquarters of the Council's office in the city of Benghazi.

The meeting also discussed ways to open the Russian Cultural House in Benghazi and open the Russian Consulate in the city.

"Al-Aqouri" stressed the importance of historical relations between the two friendly countries, and the keenness of the House of Representatives to enhance cooperation with the Russian Federation in all fields, expressing his aspiration for the Russian role in supporting the stability of Libya, according to Blihaq.

For his part, Ambassador "Haider Aganin" expressed his happiness to visit the House of Representatives, stressing his country's keenness to develop its relations with Libya, especially in the field of cooperation between the Libyan House of Representatives The Russian Duma, in a manner that serves the common interest of the two friendly peoples. The ambassador also stressed his country's commitment to supporting Libya in holding elections, noting that elections are the only way to enable the Libyan people to choose who represents them, adding that work is underway to open the Russian consulate in Benghazi during the coming period, with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations and joint cooperation between the two countries.
