Dabaiba sends a government team to Al-Asabaa to investigate the phenomenon of fires in the region

Tripoli, February 24, 2025 (LANA) - The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, assigned the Minister of Local Government, the Head of the National Safety Authority, and the Head of the Criminal Investigation Department to head to the municipality of Al-Asabaa, southwest of the capital, Tripoli, to closely monitor the incident of fires breaking out in a number of citizens' homes in the area.

The Prime Minister directed the concerned officials to work to support and enhance the efforts of the specialized teams that began dealing with the incident from the first moments, and to investigate the causes of the incident and submit a report on the developments of the incident.

The Prime Minister's directives come after reports of repeated and mysterious fires in several homes in the city of Al-Asabaa, where the fires suddenly break out without clear reasons, leading to the destruction of buildings and their contents, which raised fears and terror among the residents.

In a statement issued by the municipality of Al-Asabaa on Monday, it confirmed that the city has been facing a disaster for two days as a result of the outbreak of fires that destroyed about 20 homes for reasons that are still unknown, and called for a comprehensive investigation and the provision of the necessary capabilities to combat these fires, including enhancing the capacity of firefighting teams and providing additional fire engines.

Pictures and videos circulated on social media showed the extent of the damage caused by the fires, as the fire spread from one house to another.

For his part, the mayor of Al-Asabaa, which has a population of 65,000, expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of firefighting equipment, as there is only one firefighting vehicle in the city, despite addressing the National Safety Authority to provide more equipment without response so far, according to his statements yesterday, Monday.
