Tripoli, February 22, 2025 (LANA) - Chairman of the High National Elections Commission, Imad Al-Sayeh, reviewed today, Saturday, in Tripoli, with the Deputy Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Libya, Stephanie Khoury, and her accompanying delegation, the latest developments related to the preparations for the municipal elections, Group 2.

During the meeting, Khoury stressed the United Nations' commitment to providing technical and logistical support to ensure the integrity and transparency of the elections, which contributes to achieving stability and local development in Libya.

According to the Commission's media office, the two sides discussed the positions of the Libyan political parties and their impact on the course of the electoral process and the chances of its success.

The meeting addressed the challenges facing the international support project provided by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to support the electoral process and the need to take urgent decisions to strengthen the project and move forward in implementing the municipal council elections successfully, in light of the current political circumstances.
