Opening of Benghazi International Stadium after its development according to the latest international specifications

Benghazi, February 20, 2025 (LANA) - The city of Benghazi witnessed a major sporting event on Thursday evening with the opening of the "Benghazi International Stadium" after its development according to the latest international specifications.

The opening of the stadium was attended by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Prime Minister of the Libyan government assigned by the Council, a number of ministers, the Commander of the General Command of the Armed Forces, the Chairman of the Development and Reconstruction Fund of Libya, and a large audience from different regions of Libya, in addition to a number of guests and international football stars.

The stadium opening ceremony included many show segments and many speeches were delivered during it that agreed on unity of ranks and rejection of differences between Libyans and the aspiration for construction and development in various fields.

The head of the preparatory committee for the opening of the Benghazi International Stadium, Aqila Ali Al-Abbar, said earlier that the opening will be held with a grand ceremony and an exhibition match with the participation of world football stars.

He added that the stadium, which was supervised by the Development and Reconstruction Fund of Libya, is the most prominent sports landmark in the country, and was built according to the latest international specifications adopted by the International Federation of Football Associations.

The stadium's covered stands can accommodate about 42,000 spectators, a significant increase from its previous capacity of 28,000 spectators, and its seats were supplied by the largest specialized international companies.

The stadium includes 9 main entrances and 24 emergency exits to facilitate the entry and exit of the fans, as those in charge of it confirmed that it can be evacuated within 7 minutes in the event of an emergency.

The stadium also includes main platforms for VIPs and diplomats, which include 1,266 seats equipped with smart screens, in addition to elevators for people with special needs, and service facilities such as restaurants and cafes.

The stadium also includes a TV broadcast room, a VAR room, 177 toilets distributed throughout the stadium, two large screens on the ceiling, and high-quality speakers to ensure clear sound and instructions throughout the stadium.
