Tripoli, 19 February 2025 (Lana) U.S. Special Envoy to Libya Ambassador Richard Norland and Chargé d’Affaires Jeremy Berndt discussed, by phone from Tunis yesterday, with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ageela Saleh, the latest development of the UN-facilitated political process.
In a tweet, Norland reaffirmed U.S. support for the UN-facilitated political process as SRSG Hanna Tetteh prepares to assume her duties.
“I stressed the importance of reaching agreement on a unified budget, support for the integrity of the Central Bank and the NOC, and progress on inclusive negotiations for one government that can take the country to elections,” he said.
“I thanked the Speaker for his successful visit to Washington last Fall and noted that we look forward to further engagement with the House of Representatives,” he added.
