Libyan-African consultation on unifying the African position on the situation in Libya.

New York, 18 February 2025 (Lana) Libya's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Taher El-Sunni, met with the Ambassadors of the African Group in the Security Council A3+ (Algeria-Somalia-Sierra Leone) in addition to Guyana.

“The meeting came within the framework of consultation and unification of the African position on the situation in Libya,” El-Sonni said in a tweet.

“We briefed the African ambassadors on the political, economic and security situation in the country, and discussed the work of the UN mission, especially after the appointment of the new UN envoy,” he stated.

“We welcome the African support in the Security Council, which is consistent with the principle of Libyan ownership and leadership, respect for its sovereignty, and ending all foreign interference in its affairs,” he added.
