Sirte February 17, 2025 (LANA)_ The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Great Man-Made River Water Investment Authority, the first phase in the Central Region, Engineer Shaib bin Sharada, confirmed the planting of twenty thousand olive trees in the major farms project affiliated with the Authority, with a total area of 9,700 hectares.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority said in a statement to the correspondent of the Libyan News Agency in Sirte that the planting of olive trees came after a period of careful planning and determining the sites for planting them on the production farm, and it was done under the supervision of engineers and technicians for agricultural affairs in the Production Department according to the latest scientific standards to ensure achieving the highest levels of efficiency and productivity.
Bin Sharada pointed out that the expansion in the planting of olive trees comes within the framework of the ongoing efforts to enhance agricultural sustainability and increase the areas planted with olive trees, due to their great economic and environmental importance in supporting food security and enhancing local production.
