Tripoli, February 12, 2025 (LANA) - The head of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbaiba, announced today, Tuesday, the start of implementing the sewage treatment plant projects in the Green Plateau and the sewage line for the station's surplus water and Wadi Al-Majnin in Tripoli.
The head of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbaiba, said in a speech on the occasion: "Today, we bid farewell to pollution and welcome the developed city of Tripoli with its clean beaches that befit its name and splendor."
He added that the project is one of the projects that the residents of the capital have long awaited, and comes to be an effective solution to the pollution problems resulting from the random discharge of wastewater, which leads to the pollution of seawater and the loss of the beauty of the beaches.
He pointed out that the wastewater treatment plant project in the Green Plateau, which will purify and treat more than 110,000 cubic meters of wastewater daily, is a major step towards improving the city's environment.
The second project also includes a line for draining the station's excess water, which extends 19 kilometers deep into the sea to ensure safe flow and achieve environmental balance.
Dbaiba continued, that the project was suspended for more than 14 years, but with its launch today, it is being implemented in partnership with major specialized foreign companies, according to the highest international standards and in accordance with legal frameworks, so that these projects are the beginning of a better future.
He pointed out that all procedures have been reviewed by the supervisory bodies to ensure the implementation of the project with the best quality and the highest degree of transparency.
He added: "These projects are just the beginning, as Tripoli is preparing this year to open Tripoli International Airport and complete stages of the Third Ring Road project, which are pivotal projects that will change the reality of services and transportation in the capital."
He also stressed that the Martyrs' Square development project and the National Museum, which will be opened soon, represent a major step in preserving the cultural and historical identity of Tripoli, while emphasizing the government's interest in infrastructure in addition to its interest in the cultural aspect of the city.
