Tripoli, February 09, 2025 (LANA) - Acting Minister of Interior "Imad Trabelsi" discussed today, Sunday, with the Italian Ambassador to Libya "Gianluca Alberini" and his accompanying delegation, the prospects of joint security cooperation between Libya and Italy, with a focus on the illegal immigration file and its repercussions on the two countries.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the two sides discussed ways to reduce the flow of illegal immigrants, and support the efforts of the Libyan Ministry of Interior in combating this phenomenon.

"Trabelsi" stressed during the meeting the importance of supporting the Libyan security services and enhancing their capabilities in combating illegal immigration, stressing the need to provide support for voluntary deportation operations of immigrants to their countries of origin.

He also explained that the ministry is working to increase the pace of voluntary deportation operations, calling for intensifying international efforts to support these efforts and make this program a success.
