Dbaiba meets with the Director of the Eye Hospital.

Tripoli, January 6, 2025 (LANA) - The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbaiba, confirmed the government's commitment to supporting the file of localizing treatment domestically.

This came during his meeting today, Thursday, with the Director of the Tripoli Eye Hospital and the Head of the National Authority for Corneal Transplantation, Rania Al-Khoja, to follow up on the developments of the treatment localization initiative.

Dbaiba stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between national health institutions and providing the necessary capabilities to ensure the provision of high-quality medical services to citizens.

During the meeting, Al-Khoja reviewed the progress of medical convoys, corneal transplant operations, and tumor surgery, in addition to plans to train Libyan medical cadres.

Al-Khoja stated that the Eye Hospital performed 12,887 surgeries during 2024, including 7,393 major surgeries, while 1,000 corneal transplants were performed in various Libyan cities. The meeting witnessed a discussion of the developments of the Eye Oncology Department, which is the first of its kind in Libya, and the success of performing radioactive disc implants for the first time.
