Al-Qeeb discusses in New Delhi enhancing academic cooperation between Libya and India.

New Delhi - February 04, 2025 (LANA) - Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research "Omran Al-Qeeb", who is currently visiting India to participate in the first conference of Arab and Indian university presidents, discussed with the Indian Undersecretary of the Ministry of External Affairs for the West Asia and North Africa Department today, Tuesday, enhancing academic cooperation between Libya and India.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Government of National Unity stated, that the meeting witnessed fruitful talks between the Minister and the Undersecretary that addressed the history of bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the field of higher education, as the Minister praised the important role played by Indian professors in supporting Libyan universities and developing their academic system.

For his part, the Indian Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two countries, noting the allocation of 30 training seats for Libyans within the framework of technical cooperation programs.

The ministry added that the meeting touched on setting the agenda for university visits and memoranda of understanding between them, and also touched on a number of important issues, most notably lifting the ban on Indian workers in Libya, especially university faculty members, and reopening the Indian embassy in Tripoli next month to strengthen bilateral relations and facilitate academic and diplomatic cooperation.
