Al-Nafti confirms during his meeting with Al-Baour that Libya's security is Tunisia's security

Tunis, February 3, 2025 (LANA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, reiterated that "Libya's security is Tunisia's security", expressing his hope that Libya will regain its stability and unity.

He said in a press statement following the meeting he held in Tunis with the person in charge of running the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, that he agreed with his Libyan counterpart to "resolve the problems and lift the restrictions that prevent the smooth flow of movement at the border crossings between the two countries while respecting the laws".

Nafti added, in his statement reported by the Tunisian News Agency, that "developing the devices related to the border crossings and training the agents working on the borders" were among the important topics raised for discussion during the conversation.

He described the meeting as "constructive and fruitful and allowed for the emergence of a vision that enables the removal of obstacles and all the problems that must be overcome in preparation for the major entitlements that enhance integration, cooperation and constructive partnership with Libya".

He stressed that communication and consultation between Tunisia and Libya are always ongoing on issues of mutual security and sustainable development for the benefit of the two peoples, and said in this regard, "We are determined to move forward in implementing the agreed-upon programs, especially the security, economic, developmental, social programs and topics of a technical consular nature with the aim of completing these agreed-upon projects as soon as possible."

In turn, Al-Baour confirmed that the meeting he held in Tunisia with Al-Nafti discussed files related to developing relations in many aspects between the two countries.

Al-Baour said in a press statement following the meeting, which was attended by Minister of Transport Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, along with a number of officials and representatives of sectors from both countries, that this visit is not a private visit given that visits and contacts between Tunisia and Libya are always ongoing.

He added that the meeting touched on raising the level of consultation and coordination at the political level on common issues of interest to the two countries and the Arab region in general, in addition to discussing economic issues, including developing relations and trade exchange between the two countries.

The person in charge of running the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it was agreed to establish a joint mechanism to evaluate the results of this meeting, including decisions related to political and economic affairs.
