Interior Ministry and EU Mission Discuss Migration and Border Security in Tripoli

Tripoli, February 3, 2025 (LANA) - The Technical Committee for Following Up on the Illegal Immigration and Border Security File held a coordination meeting today, Monday, at the Ministry of Interior in Tripoli, headed by Major General Muhammad Al-Marhani, Head of the Border Guard Service and Chairman of the Committee, with representatives of the European Union Mission and international organizations concerned with immigration and borders.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting discussed the national strategy for addressing the immigration and border security file, including raising awareness of the dangers of illegal immigration, reducing the number of illegal immigrants, and developing border crossings and sectors in line with integrated border management according to international standards.

The attendees also discussed regulating expatriate labor in accordance with applicable legislation, and discussed ways of cooperation and enhancing coordination to ensure sustainable solutions to this file.

The Chairman of the Technical Committee stressed during the meeting the need for cooperation and coordination between the committee and international organizations and directing international support to the immigration and border file in accordance with the instructions of the Supreme Committee for Following Up on the Illegal Immigration and Border Security File, headed by the Minister of Interior in charge
