Al-Bayda, January 29, 2025 (LANA) - The Director of the Medical Center - Al-Bayda, "Abdul Rahim Maziq", denied the rumors circulating about the existence of an epidemic or virus targeting children in the city of Al-Bayda.

The director of the center said, that what is circulating about the existence of an epidemic or virus targeting children in the city of Al-Bayda is incorrect, and that the high rate of infections among children is due to the spread of seasonal influenza at this time of the year and weak immunity.

Maziq explained that the center received about (936) cases of illness in the children's departments during the past two months, with four deaths recorded for children who arrived at the center in the late stages of the disease, and that there is no need to worry or stop studying, as the number of infections began to decline during the past three days.

Maziq confirmed that seasonal influenza is common at this time of year, and parents must take the necessary precautions to strengthen children's immunity and limit the spread of the disease.
