Hamad and Guinea-Bissau President Discuss Strengthening African Cooperation in Benghazi
Pulbished on:Benghazi, January 29, 2025 (LANA) - The head of the Libyan government assigned by the House of Representatives, Osama Hamad, held talks in the city of Benghazi with the President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Omar Sissoco Embalo, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of a number of government ministers.
Hamad welcomed the Guinean president, stressing the importance of the visit in strengthening the political, economic and social partnership between the two countries. He praised the decision to open a consulate for Guinea-Bissau in Benghazi, which he considered a step to enhance diplomatic and economic cooperation, according to the Libyan government.
The Prime Minister affirmed Libya's appreciation for Guinea-Bissau's support in international and African forums, and its role in achieving Libyan national reconciliation, stressing the importance of an African solution to the Libyan crisis away from foreign interference, calling on the presidency of the new UN mission to respect African efforts in this regard.
For his part, the President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, expressed his aspiration for the Libyan elections to be held in a free and fair manner, stressing that resolving the Libyan crisis is the responsibility of the African Union, which pays great attention to the stability of Libya.
President Umaro Sissoco Embalo announced the formation of joint ministerial committees between the two countries to enhance cooperation in various fields, expressing his thanks for the warm welcome and generous hospitality.
