Public Prosecution: detention of a former mayor of Awjla.

Tripoli, January 17, 2025 (LANA) - The Public Prosecution ordered the detention of a former mayor of Awjla, the project manager, and other defendants, on charges of seizing 480 thousand dinars.

The Public Prosecutor's Office explained in a statement, that the defendants conspired with the commissioner of an implementation tool, by placing official documents in which they recorded data for the construction project of an administrative building, which the administration had previously contracted with another implementation tool to build in 2002.

The statement added that the defendants falsely decided that the municipality would receive the building subject to the contract, to facilitate the act of seizing the money that was the subject of the crime.

The statement indicated that the Public Prosecution decided to detain a former mayor of Awjla; the project manager; the person in charge of following up on the project; and the employee who decided to complete the work and receive it; And the commissioner of the enforcement tool who obtained illicit material benefits.
