Tripoli, 16 January 2025 (Lana) Head of the EU Delegation to Libya, Nicola Orlando, expressed his warm congratulations to the new councils and mayors, stressing the EU’s readiness to support their efforts.

“Honored to attend the swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected municipal councils, hosted in Tripoli by H.E. Minister of Local Governance Dr. Badreddine Al Toumi, with the presence of the Chairman of the High National Elections Commission, Dr. Emad Al Sayeh,” Orlando said in a tweet.

“A special pleasure was meeting and congratulating Ms. Zayra Al Magtouf, Libya’s first-ever woman mayor, from Zelten municipality, a historic and promising milestone for the country,” he added.
