Koury meets with a delegation from Gharyan.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, 6 January 2025 (Lana) UN Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Acting Head of the UNSMIL, Stephanie Koury, discussed yesterday with a delegation from Gharyan the current political situation in the country, including opportunities and challenges and its impact on citizens.
“The delegation included members of the House of Representatives, the High Council of State, the municipality, the University of Gharyan, women, youth, and other influential leaders,” Koury said in a tweet.
“The delegation shared its views on priorities to be addressed by the UNSMIL-facilitated political process, including the need for national elections, unifying institutions, and a permanent constitution,” she said.
“I expressed appreciation for Gharyan’s reconciliatory role in Libya’s history as well as its role as an important education hub. I look forward to continuing my engagement with all stakeholders across Libya,” she added.
