After a hiatus that lasted for years: Spanish company Repsol resumes exploratory drilling activity in Libya

Tripoli, December 31, 2024 (LANA) - The National Oil Corporation announced that the Spanish exploration company "Repsol" has resumed its exploration activity in the Murzuq Basin, after a hiatus that lasted for more than ten years, starting in 2014.

The corporation said in a statement that the company started drilling operations today, Tuesday, in the exploratory well (A1=2/130) (Muammal Nisr). Noting that the Mumaniat formation will be tested in it and its final depth is 6050 feet.

The corporation confirmed that this well is 800 kilometers away from the capital, Tripoli, while it is only 12 kilometers away from the Sharara oil field.
