Benghazi, December 26, 2024 (LANA) - The government assigned by the House of Representatives headed by "Osama Hamad" decided to approve the proposal to lift subsidies on fuel and petroleum products, provided that an appropriate mechanism is prepared to implement this measure.

This came during a consultative meeting of the government headed by "Hamad" held at the headquarters of the Central Bank of Libya in Benghazi yesterday, Wednesday, with the Deputy Governor "Marai Al-Barasi" and members of the committee assigned by the governor to prepare a vision for the general budget for the year 2025.

During the meeting, "Hamad" also approved the implementation of Law No. 18 of 2023 issued by the House of Representatives regarding the salaries of national employees, and also approved the proposal submitted regarding including the revenues of the Libyan Foreign Investment Corporation in the sources of financing the general budget.

According to a post on the official page of the government assigned by the representatives, the attendees discussed the mechanisms for preparing the proposal for the unified general budget for the Libyan state, as it was agreed on everything related to the first, second and fourth chapters of the unified general budget, and the discussion of the elements of the third chapter was postponed to a later meeting.

The government's publication indicated that the results of the meeting in general were represented in taking all necessary measures to achieve the desired goals of unifying the aspects of collecting and spending public money for all state institutions, in a manner that consolidates the principles of social and geographical justice for public expenditures, and in accordance with the rules of transparency and rationalization of public spending to confront all challenges facing the wheel of development and reconstruction in all parts of Libya.

It is noteworthy that the meeting was also attended by the Director of the Office of the Ministry of Planning and Finance Affairs in the government assigned by the representatives and the Director of the Follow-up Department in the Ministry, and the Director of Legal Affairs in the Ministry of Planning and Finance.
