The Attorney General is discussing in Rome the transfer of Libyan prisoners in Italy to complete their sentences in Libya.

Tripoli, December 17, 2024 (LANA) - The Attorney General, Counselor "Al-Siddiq Al-Sour", met at the headquarters of the Italian Ministry of Justice in Rome, officials of international cooperation and the prison administration at the ministry.

The meeting discussed the development of the Libyan Public Prosecution's request to transfer five convicts with custodial sentences; for the purpose of completing the sentence period served in the institutions of the country of affiliation; and enhancing cooperation by finding bilateral arrangements on the mechanism for following up on the conditions of convicts holding Libyan citizenship.

The two parties also exchanged views during the meeting, which was held on Monday in the presence of the Libyan Ambassador to Italy; on supporting the criminal justice system in Libya; and maintaining its quality, by sharing expertise with the Ministry of Justice in the Republic of Italy.
