The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces the lifting of restrictions on 1,800 bank accounts and the establishment of mechanisms to recover the funds of Libyan citizens in Malta.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, December 11, 2024 (LANA) - The person in charge of running the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Taher Al-Baour, met today, Wednesday, with the Ambassador of Malta to Libya, in the presence of the Chairman and members of the Committee for Lifting Restrictions on the Funds and Property of Libyan Citizens and Public Companies Abroad.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained through its Facebook account that during the meeting, the achievements made by the committee formed pursuant to Decision No. (26) of 2024 by the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity were discussed and evaluated.
The meeting also announced the lifting of restrictions on (1800) bank accounts in the Bank of Valletta, in addition to completing the mechanisms for recovering the funds of Libyan citizens deposited in the Bank of Santa Bank, stressing the imminent start of the process of recovering the funds.
The Ministry confirmed that it will work to publish the necessary advertisements to invite citizens concerned with this issue to bring the required documents, in coordination with the Maltese Embassy in Libya, to ensure facilitating procedures and accelerating the recovery process.
