Douma denounces international community interference in Libya.
Pulbished on:Benghazi, 8 December 2024 (Lana) Second Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Misbah Douma, denounced the international community's interference in Libya and the endeavors of the acting head of the UNSMIL, Stephanie Koury, to remain in her position and ensure the continuation of the political crisis in the country.
Douma said in a tweet yesterday that, “success has rules and mechanisms, but the international community has ignored them in the situation in Libya since 2011 and is still building projects away from the Libyans and intervening according to its interests and not the interests of Libya.”
Douma expressed his regret over what Koury is doing, considering that "what she is doing aims to remain in her position and create a new reality for the continuation of the Libyan crisis, not its solution."
According to a statement published by the spokesman for the HoR, Abdullah Blihaq, Doma wondered why the referendum on the constitution was not held or the presidential and parliamentary elections were held and who failed the 2021 elections, despite the readiness of the constitutional referendum law and its referral to the High National Elections Commission since 2018 and the laws of the presidential and parliamentary elections, stressing that it was not the Libyan people who took to the elections and registered more than 2.8 million Libyans in 2021.
