Pulbished on:Tunis, 3 December 2024 (Lana) Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Berndt, met with GNU Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Adel Juma, and Advisor to the Prime Minister, Ibrahim Dabaiba, at his residence in Tunis.
Berndt said in a tweet by the U.S. Embassy, “We discussed how Libya and the United States can work together to strengthen bilateral economic ties and the importance of fully safeguarding the independence and integrity of the Central Bank of Libya and other vital Libyan technocratic institutions.”
“We also noted the critical mediating role of UNSMIL, and I underscored U.S. support for efforts among Libyans to overcome divisions and unify institutions,” Berndt stated.
“We applauded the HNEC’s successful administration in November of the first round of municipal elections, which can provide a positive basis for additional municipal elections in the coming months and for creating a credible path to successful national elections," he added.
