Addis Ababa, November 25, 2024 (Lana) The African Union Peace and Security Council reiterated the importance of the Skhirat and Bouznika agreements in resolving the Libyan crisis.

The Council stressed, in a statement, that the Skhirat Agreement, signed in 2015, resulting from the reconciliation process between the Libyan parties under the auspices of the UN, still constitutes a reliable basis and framework for reaching a permanent political solution to the Libyan crisis.

It added that it was informed of the significant progress made in preparations for the electoral process in Libya during the meeting of the Joint Committee between the House of Representatives and the State Council, held from May 22 to June 6, 2023, in Bouznika, Morocco, noting that the Bouznika discussions made it possible to settle differences and formulate laws regulating the upcoming presidential and legislative elections in Libya.
