Tripoli, 19 November 2024 (Lana) The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) revealed the number of Sudanese refugees who have entered Libya since the beginning of the conflict in Sudan in April 2023.

The UNHCR said in a report that the number of refugees has reached more than 180,000, noting that more than 34,000 people registered with the Commission after the end of the conflict in the region, raising the total number in its registration centers in Tripoli to 53.5 thousand people.

The Commission also reported the arrival of about 128,000 Sudanese to Kufra, at a rate of 400 to 500 new arrivals per day, in addition to the issuance of more than 92,000 health certificates by the competent authorities this year.

The UNHCR stated that the continued arrival of Sudanese to Libya increases the basic needs of refugees, especially in the areas of health, water, sanitation, and food.
