Tripoli, 17 November 2024 (Lana): The European Union Delegation and diplomatic missions of EU Member States to Libya commended the High National Election Commission's (HNEC) efforts and all parties involved for this important milestone, meant to ensure representative local governance and channel political participation through electoral politics, on the eve of municipal council elections in a first group of 58 municipalities.

The mission stressed in a statement yesterday the importance of adhering to integrity and respecting the code of conduct set by the HNEC, calling for supporting the democratic process and ensuring a safe and inclusive environment before, during, and after voting day.

They stressed their commitment to supporting all relevant institutions to advance Libya’s democratic process.
