Al-Aqouri and the Sudanese Consul in Libya discuss the latest developments in the Sudanese crisis.

Benghazi, November 13, 2024 (LANA) - The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee in the House of Representatives, "Youssef Al-Aqouri", discussed with the Sudanese Consul, "Abdul Rahman Muhammad", the latest developments related to the Sudanese crisis.

This came during the meeting of "Al-Aqouri" with the Sudanese Consul and his accompanying delegation at the headquarters of the House of Representatives today, Wednesday, in the city of Benghazi.

 During the meeting, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee stressed "Libya's position in support of the stability and unity of Sudan and the preservation of the blood of the Sudanese brothers and the rejection of any foreign interference in its internal affairs, stressing the depth of the fraternal relations between the two countries. 

According to a statement by the spokesman for the House of Representatives, "Al-Aqouri" stressed the Libyan state's support at the governmental and popular levels with the Republic of Sudan in this ordeal, explaining that since the beginning of the crisis, the Speaker of the House of Representatives issued his instructions to welcome the Sudanese brothers on Libyan soil and consider it their second country and prevent the establishment of any camps for them and treat them as equal to Libyan citizens, and work to provide all moral and material support to them, pointing out the importance of stability in Sudan for national security in Libya. 

Al-Aqouri also stressed the keenness of the House of Representatives to follow up on all executive bodies and resolve all problems, especially those related to Sudanese students of all levels in order to continue their studies. 

In turn, the Sudanese Consul presented a summary of the conditions of the Sudanese community in Libya, extending his thanks to the Libyan authorities that opened all doors to receive citizens Sudanese displaced to Libyan territory and worked to facilitate their residence procedures and treat them equally with Libyan citizens. He asked the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee to help open the Sudanese consulate in the city of Kufra to work and facilitate procedures for the displaced more quickly. In conclusion, the two sides agreed to continue coordination to facilitate all procedures related to the brothers from Sudan, explaining that international aid does not rise to the level of the crisis.
